MINISTER OF PLANNING AND ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT APPLAUDS DDCC
The Honourable Minister of Planning and Economic Development, Kenyeh Barlay, has on Thursday 3rd April 2025 expressed delight over the progressive strides of the DDCC across the country.
She made the expression at the Bo District Council hall in the Falaba Section during the first DDCC meeting for 2025.
She added that the testimonials from various districts were overwhelmingly desirable and appealing, which also indicates that the committee has made tremendous progress in the local governance structure.
In her rating, she stated that the committee was at a gratifyingly high performance in strengthening coordination and collaboration within the district, thereby integrating key players in the web of development.
“Because of the resounding successes we have realized from the DDCC, my Ministry has decided to establish the Chiefdom Development Coordination Committee (CDCC), to adequately reach development to the doorsteps of the people.” She affirmed with purpose.
However, she registered her disappointment over the poor attendance of Paramount Chiefs at the DDCC meeting.
Eric Mohamed Mansally, Director of NGOs Affairs-MoPED, said at the DDCC meeting that the Local Councils should only operate with NGOs in Sierra Leone, as gazetted in Gazette No. 11 Vol. CLXVI for the 2024-2025 period.
He entreated the Council Leadership to bring to their attention, perpetual noncomplying NGOs who do not cooperate with the DDCC.
Mansally intimated the committee about the proposed tour of the Hon. Vice President in May 2025 to interface with Local Councils and Implementing Partners at DDCC.
The meeting was chaired and co-chaired by the Deputy Chief Administrator-Bo District Council, Ahmed Moisia Lahai and Joseph Lahai, Monitoring and Evaluation Officer-Bo City Council respectively.
Updates from Devolved Sectors, INGOs and NNGOs’ Leads formed part of the meeting.
Presentation of the action points tracker and the meeting feedback for DDCC climaxed the meeting.
